  • Homework:  Read pages 1-6 in text book; take notes on maid ideas, definitions and key words, the rhetorical triangle
Tuesday, September 20

Goals: accumlate language of rhetoric vocbulary; pratice close reading skills

Tasks:
  • Course syllabus (parent and student signature due Wednesday)
  • Discuss intro to rhetoric
  • Read John F. Kennedy's inagural address (p. 51 in book)--look for devices and why he would use these
  • Begin analysis chart
Wednesday, September 21

Goals: analyze literature to understand author's purpose

Tasks:

  • Literary History Due
  • Parent signature due
  • JFK anlaysis chart--work to fill out
  • Prompt breakdown--HW: write three thesis statements
Thursday, September 22

Goals: analyze literature to understand author's purpose; communicate effectively to a large group
Tasks:

  • Thesis statements and analysis chart due
  • Share with writing community
  • Teach Socratic Seminar with thesis statements
